Well, there it is. That’s my Jaguar being loaded up for its journey to its new home in New York. I’m sad to see it go, but the guy who bought it is just a really great guy...and he’s got an XJS already, so I’m glad my XJ12 will be sharing a garage with a like-minded automobile.
It worked out well all around. The car sold for a fair price for both of us, at a good time for me with the baby coming, and the transaction just genuinely couldn’t have been any more pleasant. That’s basically the way you draw it up from the start.
So I’m left with a conundrum for this weekend. I’ve got the money available, and there’s still a certain ‘67 Mustang notchback project kicking around in my price range.
It’s a 302 automatic, solid, runs and drives but it’ll need pretty extensive cosmetic work. And at the price, my money is safer there than it is in Fort Knox. So do I go grab that car, knowing I could probably turn a profit if I needed to, or do I wait for something better? Will I even find something better? I’m not sure I can...it’s not that far off from the shape my Corvair was in, but it’s a Mustang for less than I sold the Corvair for.
I’ve got about 24 hours to decide if I’m gonna try to do that Saturday, though I guess I could set it up for Labor Day if I wanted to?
I’ve got some thinking to do. Oppopinions welcome!

Watch for extensive rust! Parts are plentiful though.
I’m glad your Jag is going to a good home though.

Follow your feelings, Luke. You know you want it, you’ve got the money, and you’ve got the plan, now GO FOR IT.

I’d say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
Go for it, as long as it’s not going to break in half from rust you’ll not lose money on it.

Allegedly it’s pretty solid and mostly needs cosmetics. The good thing is that I can basically build a new one out of a catalog, haha.
Yeah, the Jag going to a good home is key. Like if somebody told me they planned to put a V8 in it I would have thrown them out of my house. This guy appreciates the V12s, so I’m happy.

When you’re right, you’re right. I just emailed the guy on the Mustang. Gonna make it happen.

Yeah, it’s literally worth as little right now as it will ever be. Anything I do to it will only increase it’s value. An email has been sent to get the ball rolling.

Exciting times! What you going to call the mustang? ;)

With a baby coming, you won’t have time for a project in the short term.

Good luck!

Oh no doubt. Part of my plan is that I'm using it as a savings account... the car is never going to be worth less than it is today. I stuff it in my garage, it can stay there. If I leave the money in the bank, it's gets nickel and dimed out of existence. Maybe it's a while before I get to it, but at least I've got it, you know?
